Eight twenty. The smokestacks greet me as I crest a hill, but they're partially lost in mist. My feet start to get cold.

Rain

Asa Lory April 12, 2013

A few nights ago, as it was cold and rainy, all I planned to do was sit inside. I'd spent hours studying for a math exam, and I wanted to get into bed and let someone else's written words wash over me....

Pretty soon, the adventure just devolved into me taking pictures of my shoes, such as this one of crossing the creek on an old sewage pipe that's served as a bridge for as long as I can remember.

In which I take a walk

Asa Lory March 14, 2013
Have you ever noticed how much we look at our own shoes? We've learned to ignore them, but for this blog, I decided to pay a little more attention to my gool ol' feet.
Ya Bass

Ya Bass

Asa Lory February 14, 2013

I like basses. I mean, in addition to the fact that I am one (hey choir kids), they really fill out the sound to any sort of music. They've got a monopoly on cool jazz walking lines and nice buzzy wub-wubs...

All the pretty lights

Asa Lory February 1, 2013

For today's photo blog, I decided to play around with long exposure: leaving a camera's sensor open for much longer than a typical photograph would. Instead of 1/60 to 1/125 of a second as usual, I left...

I swear they do everything here

I swear they do everything here

The Columbia Area Career Center hosted their annual Skill Expo earlier tonight, and my goodness, it was spectacular. From Welding Tech to Photonics, Computer Science to Broadcast Journalism, the CACC displayed...

A Scout in the Park

A Scout in the Park

Asa Lory September 27, 2012

I really enjoy the creative process. Not just the final product, which indeed is interesting, but the actual sequence of conceptualizing, planning, trial and error that goes into achieving the end. I've...

A Saturday to remember

A Saturday to remember

Asa Lory September 23, 2012

I'm taking a break from my usual schedule and format to bring my experience yesterday at Roots n Blues to the Bearing News site. I spent most of the day downtown, and the festival was fantastic. This is...

It's a privilege to pee

It’s a privilege to pee

Asa Lory September 13, 2012

Hello, again! I've finally gotten organized enough to put up my first photo blog of the year (only 14 hours late, too,) and it's already following what seems to be a general rule of this blog: take what...

After The Show

Asa Lory April 23, 2012

I always have a good time at Capers seeing the different acts. I enjoy watching the singers and the dancers perform because I know they're doing what they love and sharing it with the school. There's something...

With springtime comes celebration, peacetime

With springtime comes celebration, peacetime

Asa Lory April 8, 2012

Easter Sunday has come and just about gone, marking many a springtime celebration, one of the last sane weekends before AP testing and the resurrection of Jesus. Being myself - not too worried about exams,...

On Track

Asa Lory April 8, 2012

It's that time of year again, when spring sports reclaim their members, and although I am not a fan of most athletics, I absolutely enjoy watching the running, jumping and throwing that happens in track...

Clubs and Capers and Kites, oh my!

Clubs and Capers and Kites, oh my!

Asa Lory March 8, 2012

During the past few weeks, I've dabbled in all sorts of organizations. I've gotten to do my wonderful, not-actually-18-yet version of clubbing (that is, going to various clubs around Rock Bridge). I've...
