What inspires your art?
Just like things that I’ve seen before or things that I find visually appealing. I like to recreate art or try to make things that look nice to me. I’m mostly a digital designer. I’m actually pretty bad at art by hand.
What’s your favorite program to work with? Why?
I like using Illustrator, but Photoshop is a close second. What I like to make is more minimalist than it is anything else, and I just like the way that illustrator can make precise shapes and cool designs.
How does your experience at the Columbia Area Career Center (CACC) affect your inspiration or ability to work?
I wouldn’t have been able to know that I enjoy things like this if it wasn’t for the Digital Media course that I took last year. That class and Graphic Design this year made me able to improve my skills and be able to create the things that I like. I wouldn’t have been able to do that without the Career Center.
What is it like being an artist and a student at the same time?
Most of the time I’m a student first. But since I’m in Graphic Design, a lot of the art related things I do for this class are related to my school work so it doesn’t really take up a lot of my time. Designing is just something I enjoy doing in my free time and hopefully I’ll be able to make a career out of it.
Do you strive under a certain environment?
I usually listen to music while I work. I like to work in sort of an individualized setting, so listening to music and not talking to people.
Do you create your own music?
I’ve tried before, but I’m not particularly gifted in the field. I’ll have to invest more time during the summer if that’s something I want to do.
What is your dream job?
My dream career is actually something to do with being a graphic designer because it’s one of the things that I’ve excelled at academically and it’s sort of one of the few things that I excel at academically and enjoy doing. So I would really be interested to do something in that field.
How do you see yourself in 10 year?
In 10 years? Hopefully I’ll be abroad. I really like to travel, and I like foreign languages and stuff like that. I want to visit France and China. Maybe I’ll be traveling while doing something graphic design related. That’d be cool.
