I agree with you completely Najeebah! My father is in the military. I’ve moved to 8 different states, and even out of the country once. It is very difficult to leave your home, where you feel safe and comfortable, to a place of different culture and beliefs. I couldn’t even imagine having to not only try settling in to a strange new environment, but also being unable to fully communicate with anyone around you. The girl you overheard speaking probably has, and most likely will never be in the situation he is and therefore her comment, in my opinion, was very naive and disrespectful.

I bet when this girl goes to another country it’ll be on an expensive exchange trip where she will be surrounded by English speakers and will return with minimal language learned.

people like that are pretty rude and english is harder to learn then it seems because english pulls from alot of different languages and i think i’d be funny if she read this
