Whitney Wipfler, escorted by senior Scott Coffelt
How did you ask your escort to homecoming?
Um, well, let’s see. I made him cookies and wrote on the plate, “Will you be my escort?”
What were your immediate thoughts after hearing your name in the nominations?
I don’t know, my blood just rushed. It was just nice, you know, that, um, people voted me on. And I don’t know. And I, well I was more excited to hear that my friends, like my friends Paige and Sarah, and all the girls actually, we’re all really close, and just, it was a fun group of girls.
What homecoming activity do you look forward to most?
I’ve just never been a part of any homecoming activities because for softball we’ve always been gone. So I’ve never seen—I’ve been to the dance—but I’ve never been to the assembly, never seen the parade, never seen the bonfire, or even the game. So I think all of it, in general, just being the first time, will just fun and exhilarating.
What school activities do you participate in?
Oh, wow, I’m in softball; I’m the interclub council representative for NHS; I’m vice president of Tri-Theta. I’m in RBRO; I’m the core leader of RBRO’s Challenger League. I am in Prom Closet; I’m in Student Council. FDA. There’s a lot of them, I don’t know. Too many.
How do you think you would exemplify a homecoming queen if you won?
I would just be happy to represent everyone. I feel like it should be on a more personal basis. You should be familiar with everyone, and I would just like to make sure everyone is represented.
How have you made the school a better place?
I don’t know. I try to be nice to everyone, and I try to make sure everyone’s happy and smiling and that everyone gets what they want out of it. Just like, when I’m in charge of clubs, I try to run for positions just to make everyone else feel more at home and at ease. And, I don’t know, just getting everyone involved.
What are your dreams and aspirations?
Um, when I grow up, I want to get married and have kids and be the best mom ever. And I want to own my own flower shop. It’s been a dream of mine, and I’m really interested in it. And it’s right up my alley, I guess; flowers make me happy.
What is your most embarrassing high school memory?
Oh, there’s too many. Just last week I fell in the main commons. I couldn’t list them off, there’s so many. Today at lunch, dancing in front of everyone was really embarrassing, just because everyone was just sitting there, really quiet. But no, nothing sticks out because, I mean, I’m the clumsy one, so I trip all the time and I fall, so that stuff’s not out of the ordinary. Like, the stuff that might embarrass one person doesn’t embarrass me.
