Fine arts earn All-State honors

Fine arts earn All-State honors

On Saturday, Nov. 3, choir students auditioned for the 2012 All-State Choir. One month later, on Saturday, Dec. 3, band and orchestra students auditioned for 2012 All-State concert band, jazz band and orchestra.
Music students from across Missouri compete yearly for spots in All-State ensembles after hours of practice. Students who made the ensembles will congregate at Tan-Tar-A resort Jan. 25-28 for the annual Missouri Music Educators Association Conference. After rehearsing for three days, each group will give a final concert on Saturday, Nov. 28.

The following students were selected for the All-State choir: 
  • Rebecca Burke-Aguero (11): Soprano
  • Charlie Davis* (12): Bass
  • Andy Flanagin* (12): Tenor
  • Katie Hobbs* (12): Soprano
  • Ian Meyer (11): Tenor
  • Lauren Puckett (11): Soprano

The following students were selected for the All-State band and jazz band:

  • Christian Ackmann*** (12): 1st chair French Horn
  • Jonathan Ackmann (11): 6th chair trumpet
  • Elena Horvit* (12): 3rd chair flute
  • Kaleb Jacks (11): 2nd chair jazz alto sax
  • Molly Krueger* (12): 1st chair oboe
  • Dalton Maggard (11): jazz vibraphone 
  • Adam Roebuck* (12), split-lead jazz trumpet
  • Daniel Shapiro (10): 9th chair trumpet
  • Christina Wang* (12): 2nd chair flute
  • David Wang** (11): 1st chair percussion option 2
The following students were selected for the All-State orchestra:
  • Joanne Lee (12): Cello
  • Daphne Yu* (11): Violin
*indicates number of times students made an All-State ensemble in previous years.
