Despite the major differences between North and South Korea, both Korean governments have agreed to reunite their Olympic teams for the upcoming Winter Olympics, which will be held in the mountain town of Pyeongchang, South Korea.
However, while many across the world see this as an attempt at solidarity between the two countries, others believe this as a North Korean ploy where the government is trying to charm the rest of the world into thinking better about them, and taking away current government sanctions.
Many in South Korea feel this way, and as a result, the Korea’s are on the fence about being a single Korean team, and they have recently decided against marching together during the Olympic ceremonies.
North Koreans see this as the South and the rest of the world trying to dismiss North Korea’s sincere message of peace and cooperation.

This is an interesting development in the current relationship among North Korea, South Korea and the rest of the world. I can see both sides of the argument, but I would caution people to not accept everything at face value. Regardless of what the true intentions are, I will be interested to see how this develops and what ramifications it could have in the future.
