A cultural holiday to celebrate and appreciate harvest time is common in many countries around the world. In Korea, they celebrate Chuseok with traditional food and games. Argentinians celebrate the Fiesta de la Vendimia by drinking wine made from their vineyards. Fruit pastries called kolache are common in Czech harvest festivals.
Giving thanks for food and family, no matter where or when, is important nearly everywhere in the world. This Thursday, many Americans will celebrate Thanksgiving by eating everything from turkey to cranberry sauce to pumpkin pie with friends and family, and enjoy their time off from work and school.

What do you see as the true meaning of Thanksgiving?

I do love thanksgiving-it is a time for family and lots of food definitely. But the roots is what I don’t like. It’s sad it’s about basically killing off all the native americans and taking their land.

I think it is a time to celebrate everything you have with the people you love. Great organizations like “Everybody Eats” ensure that even those who have nothing can come together and feel a sense of community, and that is the true meaning of Thanksgiving.
