The boys’ varsity soccer team, hosting this year’s District 9 Tournament, dominated their first game against Washington High School 5-0 Monday, Oct. 31. The team went into the match ranked first in the state with a record of 21-3. Although the match took place on Halloween, the players felt they were not denied the fun that usually comes with the candy festival.
“[Playing the game on] Halloween doesn’t make much difference,” sophmore Jacob Kovarik said. “We get in, take care of business, get out and go get some candy.”
To make it past districts and onto sectionals, the boys will play Hickman High School, winner of Monday night’s second game. The final match for District 9 will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 here.
