Students' First Amendment rights have long been controversial in the U.S. with debates ranging from what they can say to what they can pray. Numerous Supreme Court cases established precedents on such issues. Santa Fe Independent School District v. Jane Doe (2000) tackled the topic of student led prayer in school.
