Board of education votes to return students to in-person school

The Columbia Public Schools (CPS) Board of Education voted 5-2 for elementary students to return to a four-day in-person schedule, and secondary students to return to a hybrid, two-day schedule at their monthly regular session on Jan. 11.

The Wasian complication

Filipino and white culture are polarized, and it makes being somewhere in between confusing. Wasian culture, characterized by being a half-Asian, half-white teenager, is prominent on social media platforms like TikTok; although there is a Wasian community online, Columbia is not known for its diversity.
Seniors Reece Furkin and Anushka Jalisatgi take Advanced Horticulture as an independent study class. Together they created this floral design for the Art in Bloom competition based on Marion Reids painting The Sorceress. In the design they used mini calla lilies, mini hydrangea, podocarpus, maidenhair fern, amnesia roses, dahlias, leucadendron, silver dollar eucalyptus, Queen Anne’s lace and a succulent and willow branch from the tree outside the horticulture building.
