For the 13th time in a row, the girls’ tennis team has won the district tournament and will be heading to Sectionals. The girls won the tournament without losing a match, beating both Jefferson City High School and Holt High School 9-0.
Our victory at districts is because “of a lot of hard work we put in over the summer,” senior Savannah Everett said. “We all played a lot of hours of tennis this summer, and we all got a lot closer, and I think it paid off. It just shows how strong our program is.”
The girls, the defending Class 2 state champions, will play in sectionals Oct. 15 and hope to be able to continue on to the state championship tournament Oct. 21.
“We definitely hope to do well [at sectionals] and plan to do well,” Everett said. “If we play as well as I know we can, I think we can do pretty well.”
