Day 5 updates

Day+5+updates

Day 5. An impassioned Adam Schiff was the highlight of day 5 of the impeachment hearings, along with Devin Nunes, while President Trump said the hearings are “a kangaroo court.”

Here are the highlights from Nov. 21.

At 9:06 a.m. (EST) the hearing began as Chairman Schiff gaveled in the session. The witnesses, Fiona Hill and David Holmes gave their opening statements acknowledging the Ukraine election conspiracy as untrue. Hill talked about a meeting in which Gordon Sondland pressured Ukraine for political investigation and insisted that Director of the Office of Management and Budget Mick Mulvaney agreed to the plan.

Holmes testified on Thursday that Sondland told him Zelenksy wanted to make clear that he would not stand in the way “of investigations” into Biden and Burisma energy. Holmes referred to Rudy Giuliani’s endeavours in Ukraine as “big stuff” and that there was a lot of it. Holmes confirmed that in a phone call Sondland told President Trump that Ukraine President Zelenksy, “loves your a–.”

Dr. Hill made a reference to the Ukraine election conspiracy, saying, “I refuse to be apart of an effort to legitimize an alternate narrative that the Ukranian government is a U.S adversary and that Ukraine, not Russia, attacked us in 2016.”

President Trump tweeted out periodical responses to the hearings, strongly voicing his belief on the ongoing hearings over the past week. The President described the hearing a “disgrace” and “kangaroo court,” after acknowledging he watched part of the third day of the testimonies.

Republicans are skeptical of Holmes’ recollection of the call because he only heard “the Trump part.” Updates by Nick Clervi – Author and economic, political analyst for Bearing News.
