Freshmen advisory classes create door decks, elaborate eye-catching decorations that include creativity, originality and humor. Art teacher Carrie Stephenson introduced the RBHS tradition to advisory teachers, hoping to involve the freshmen in school spirit.
The door decks follow the homecoming movie themes from Monday to Friday: Disney/animated, science fiction/superhero, horror, sports, and western/country. Teachers and staff judged the door decks on Monday and Tuesday this week. The two winning advisories will be receive pizza and donuts. The results of the friendly competition will be reveal at today’s assembly.

Art teacher Shannon Blake’s Advisory class participated in the door deck competition. Senior mentors and freshmen decided upon "The Jungle Book" theme as they were excited for all the colors they could use. After initial technology setbacks, Blake said a group of his students continuously worked on the door deck. “We started as a miserable failure because we were trying to get things drawn out by projecting them on the wall and technology was failing us or we were failing technology,” Blake said. “Once we got over that hurdle, everything started working.” Photo by Anna Xu.

Wow those are some good door decks. Makes me wish I participated in the making of mine my freshman year!
