Three Cheers for Cross Country

Paige Kiehl

Duel to the DeathCross Country has made up a majority of my high school memories. Being part of a close-knit team for the past four years has been one of the best experiences of my life. Whether we are running hard workouts or catching up on the bus ride home, there is never a dull moment. While all of the races during the season are important, there is no equivalent to state. Where the best of the state come to create a name for themselves, and families and friends flock from all over to see their loved ones pour themselves out onto the course. Because this it. The end of the season. And while the varsity runners represent their schools with racing, the rest of us decide to go all out for cheering. Mascots are dressed up in team uniforms, bodies are painted no matter the temperature and being the loudest is the goal.
