The Rock Bridge girls JV tennis team returned to the court today, Sept. 18, to defeat Fulton’s varsity players by a dramatic margin of 9-0. Although the girls were playing against a varsity team, they didn’t let the prospect of tougher competition intimidate them and used it as motivation instead.
“I felt at ease prior to the match,” sophomore Emily Reynolds said. “I was hoping for a good competition from Fulton’s varsity, but not too much competition was there.”
Reynolds won against Fulton in a 6-1, 6-0 match with aces and winners – where the opponent has no chance of getting the ball back – interspersed throughout her two sets. Along with Renolds, seniors Gracie Strawn and Carleigh Thrower, junior Jenny Yao, sophomores Lexie Hofmann and Emily Reynolds and freshman Ronnie Farid all won their matches against the Fulton Hornets.
The JV team’s victory comes right off of the team’s coach Ben Loeb’s 800th win this weekend and marks the last JV meet of the season.
