Girls’ swim. dive battles difficult practice conditions, falls to Blue Springs

On Jan. 23, the COMO girls’ swim and dive team, consisting of students from RBHS, Hickman High School and Battle High School, traveled to Blue Springs High School to compete against the Blue Springs swim team. It was their fourteenth meet of the season, and both varsity and junior varsity members participated in the competition.
Sophomore Nick Clervi and head coach Taylor Birsa converse during the 20 minute break Nov. 16. In prelims, Clervi posted a time of 55.85 and placed 15th. In finals, Clervi achieved a time of 54.08 and placed ninth.

Boys’ swim, dive team compete in state championship

On Nov. 15 and 16, the RBHS boys' swimming and diving team competed in Class 2 State Championships in St. Peter’s.
Junior Kenji Kuwajima makes his way down the pool in the 100-yard breastroke. Although freestyle is Kuwajimas best stroke, he decided to work on his breastroke at the meet. Committed to improvement, Kuwajima put his best effort into the race.

Girls’ swimming and diving places second at COMO Invite

Coming off of winter break, the girls’ swim and dive team dove right back into competition at the COMO Invite Jan. 4 and Jan. 5 where the team placed second overall. The team had only competed three other times prior to this meet, so team members took advantage of the opportunity to swim fast times and make state cuts, times that will automatically qualify them to compete at state later in their season.
