The boys’ swim team competed in state swimming finals competition to place eighth out of 44 teams at the state swimming and diving competition at the St. Peters Rec Plex in St. Peters, Mo. The team tied for eighth with Parkway West, coming in several places ahead of their last place performance at last year’s competition.
Leading the team was senior Diogo Ferreira, who finished third in the 50-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle. The 200 freestyle relay, composed of Ferreira, sophomore Harry Stanton, senior Daniel Rhodenbaugh and senior Eric Wetz, placed third and set a school record of 1:28.86, dropping a second from their record-setting performance yesterday. Wetz, Ferreira, Stanton and senior Thomas Jamieson-Lucy placed seventh in the 400 freestyle relay.
Top 16 finishes in the consolation heats included Stanton, placing 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke and Wetz, placing 10th in the 100-yard freestyle.
