First witness Bill Taylor gives his opening remarks kicking off the first round of public impeachment hearings. In his statement, he mentions some background on diplomacy between Ukraine, Russia and the United States. Taylor mentions that Ukrainian president Zelensky did not want to be used as an instrument for a political campaign and later says he was not pressured by the president.
Taylor goes on to say that Aid including weapons, money and tactical support was withheld, with no explanation. Taylor continues by saying that Vice president Mike Pense had talked to Zelensky prior to the Trump – Ukraine call in which the current inquiry was sparked thereof.
