The Bruins broke two school records and qualified six swimmers to finals during the preliminary competition of the MSHSAA state championship at the St. Peters Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Mo.
Senior Diogo Ferreira broke school records in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle, earning sixth and fourth place seeds, respectively, for the finals competition tomorrow. Other individual qualifiers included senior Eric Wetz in the 100-yard freestyle and sophomore Harry Stanton in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The team also qualified a 400 freestyle relay consisting of Stanton, Ferreira, senior Thomas Jamieson-Lucy and Wetz. The previously record-setting 200 free relay team, consisting of Ferreira, senior Daniel Rhodenbaugh, freshman Michael Rhodenbaugh and Wetz earned a fourth place seed.
Competition continues as the top 16 seeds in each event compete for points tomorrow at the St. Peters Rec-Plex at 3 p.m.
