Earlier this month, the RBHS show choirs had their premiere performance. Prior to that, they had two rehearsals in full costume and makeup.
As an individual on the tech crew, I took the opportunity to go around backstage and take some close-up shots of makeup, costumes and stage props.
Junior Madi Mertz applies her stage makeup in preparation for the Satin N’ Lace Show Choir’s first full dress rehearsal. Everyone in Show Choir, male or female, must wear incredibly vivid makeup in order to make their features appear prominent in the bright stage lights.
City Lights open their show entitled “Party at Gatsby’s” dressed as 1920’s party-goers. All of the Show Choir costumes are selected, altered and fixed by Victoria Mongillo, who has volunteered for the RBHS Theater department for years.
A beautiful bow-tie, part of the show choir males’ attire.
After the girl’s only number, they rush offstage to change into their next dresses.
See here a close-up shot of the City Lights’ closer dresses.
Every City Lights girl has roughly a 30 second window in which to change out of their first dress into this one. Each girl also has a tech crew person to aid them in their change.
Shown here is a table that is featured in two of the City Lights numbers. All of the props used by both of the Show Choirs are built, painted, and placed by members of the RBHS Theatre Tech classes.
