With scores of 25-7 and 25-14 in the first two sets, the girls’ volleyball team powered through yet another game and brought home another victory for the Bruins. The girls traveled to Francis Howell Central High School in St. Charles, Mo. for the game, but the long bus ride was worth it when they captured another win with relative ease. Senior Emma Briggs thought the team was well-prepared for the game, and definitely earned their win against FHC.
“I feel like we did a really good job preparing for the game, and we stayed up both in skills and mentality,” Briggs said. “We had good, long rallies and kept fighting through them. We continued to communicate well, and had consistent serving.”
The match started at 5 p.m., but because of how well the girls played, they were announced the champions after the first two sets of the game. Briggs thinks that if the team continues to play as well as they did at this match, they could easily be State Champions this year with just a little more effort and dedication.
“I feel like we’re ready, but we also know that we’ll have to work consistently hard through Districts if we want to get to State,” Briggs said. “If any Rock Bridge Volleyball team is going to win State, it will be this one.”
The girls intend to continue preparing up until the MSHSAA State Championships, which will be held on Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9. at the Show-Me Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. The team’s next game with be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m. against Hickman High School, with the district tournament starting soon after on Monday, Oct. 28.
