The girls tennis team secured its 20th straight win of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 2, against Jefferson City High School. The Bruins won the match 9-0 with JCHS taking a maximum of four games in each individual match. RBHS Tennis Coach Ben Loeb said the girls improved a lot since the last time they played JCHS.
“We hit the ball with more pace, more power; we just played much more aggressively and confidently,” Loeb said. “We played more safely and more reserved two weeks ago the last time we played them, this time was better.”
Despite this straightforward victory, the Bruins still needs to defeat a few more teams before qualifying for Districts. The girls will play Westminster Christian Academy Oct. 4, one of the last games before they advance to Districts. The team has high hopes for the match, along with the rest of the season. Loeb believes the girls will go far in districts and state.
“If we stay on the track we are on now, we have a good chance at winning state this year,” Loeb said. “All we need to do is stay focused and keep playing smart and aggressively, and we will do great at state.”
