Following the two-day Southern Illinois Invitational, the RBHS girls varsity tennis team finished with significant success.
Although the varsity players competed against JV teams, RBHS played with the same serious attitude that allows them to achieve victory after victory.
“Everybody played well,” junior Sophi Farid said, “then in the next dual everybody had really close matches.”
During the first day of the competition against Bellville East High School, RBHS nabbed two victories.
Following a 7-6 win in the first doubles, the team was faced with a match tiebreaker after their game of 5-5. RBHS was up 2-1 in the tiebreaker when the match was cancelled due to the sudden rainfall.
The following morning, the weather improved and the players continued to dominate in their matches with ease. The Bruins achieved an overwhelming victory to finish off the tournament. The team suffered only one loss out of a total of 18 matches.
