The girls’ varsity tennis team proved a little rescheduling did not throw them off today, Sept. 10. The Bruins defeated both Branson (7-2) and Edwardsville (5-4) in the Columbia Quad Duals on the Bethel Park courts at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.
Doubles partners sophomore Phoebe Boeschen and junior Sophi Farid made a come back from 0-3 to a 6-3 win in the second set against Branson.
“We need to work on double [plays] a little bit,” Boeschen said, “to know that we are secured in the match and [can] count on doubles.”
Freshman Hannah Pohl struggled to win against Edwardsville, beating her opponent 11-9 after a tiebreaker.
The varsity girls will travel to Kansas City to compete in the Liberty Tournament at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept.14 and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 15.
