Bruin volleyball entered the districts tournament with a 25-6 record Oct. 25. The girls played against Troy Buchanan in the first game, barely edging them out, 25-23.
“We felt like we needed to step it up for Hannibal,” senior Nici Thaler said. “But we were just really pumped for the next week.”
They moved on to the semi-final against Hannibal but dropped the nail biter, 25-21.
“It was a horrible feeling to know that playing as hard as we did still didn’t cut it,” Thaler said. “But the important thing is to remember we left it all out on the court today.”
Despite the loss, the team remains a tight-knit group of friends.
“The best thing about this season was definitely the relationship we all formed with each other,” Thaler said. “We went from being teammates to really being family. That’s the most important aspect of the season.”
