Just across the parking lot in Bethel Park the tennis team’s individual players face regional competition at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11.
The Bruins come off the Class 2 District 9 championship Oct. 5 and a 21-0 season. For the second time in as many years, Rock Bridge teammates faced one another in the finals championships for both singles and doubles.
The outcome was an all green and gold but not a foregone conclusion. Sophi Farid beat Maddy Kayser, 6-2, 6-1 in singles. In doubles Kay Fischer and Phoebe Boeschen took the win over Savannah Everett and Allison Baker 7-6 (4), 6-4.
All six girls will play in regionals this afternoon. Copeland and Hess, ranked first and fourth, respectively, face two West Plains opponents.
At 9 a.m. the entire team heads to West Plains Saturday, Oct. 15 for the first leg of the state tournament.
