The Blue Note was filled on Monday night with a sold out venue of fans dying to see Glass Animals.
The band arrived on a stage covered by blue and purple lights, making it feel mystical, like a dream. With lyrics such as, “Ride my little pooh bear, wanna take a chance,” the music leaves you wondering, “Why the hell am I dancing to this? Why am I enjoying this?” Despite the weird lyrics on the ZABA album, Glass Animals had the entire venue dancing and singing along to every song.
I’ll admit I went to this concert after only hearing two of their most popular songs, “Gooey” and “Black Mambo”, so I was kind of forced to listen to their other songs.
However, since Monday night I have been listening to their album non stop. The concert began with “Walla Walla”, officially my new favorite song by them.
The foursome sounded precisely as they did on ZABA except for when the singer forgot the lyrics to one of their songs and had to start over.
The band covered “Gold Lion,” by the Yeah Yeah Yeah and “Love Lockdown” by Kanye West. The set was ended with the song “Pools.” An embarrassing moment occurred when the crowd was left questioning whether or not “Gold Lion” was a new song by the foursome because of how similar it sounded to their album.
The only disappointment of the concert was the fact that their set only lasted an hour. Yes, Glass Animals only has one album, but they didn’t even play every song off their album. Instead, they played around eight songs of their own songs, and two cover songs.
When they walked off the stage, the crowd was left disappointed and questioning if the concert was done or not. While the Glass Animals concert was way too short, it was the most amazing concert I’ve ever been to. I was left feeling dazed and in awe of how amazing their performance was.
