Boys’ soccer falls in district championship bid

With the Class 4 District 9 championship and a ticket to the Class 4 sectional game on the line, the boys’ soccer team (21-4) faced Jefferson City High School (JCHS) Nov. 7 at Battle High School. In the end, JCHS player Lucas Godon scored the winning kick to send the Jays to the Class 4 sectional, ending the game 2-1.

Boys’ soccer vies for ultimate prize

A gaggle of players congregates by one of the goals. Some rocket shots at the net; some juggle a ball using their feet; two use a ball to play basketball on an invisible hoop. The boys are preparing for the start of their postseason in the district tournament Saturday.
Senior forward Quintin Liddle hugs his teammate, junior midfielder Preston Fancher, after the game. Liddle was emotional when the final whistle blew, realizing he had just finished his final game as a Bruin. "[This game meant] everything," Liddle said. "And that's it."
