On April 28, 1996, a man armed with a semiautomatic rifle shot and killed 35 people around Port Arthur in Tasmania, Australia. On Feb. 14, an armed student shot and killed 17 people in Parkland, Fla, United States. In both the countries, the gun laws following the events were drastically different, drawing controversy over the second amendment in the United States.

At 10:00 a.m. students who chose to, walked out of their classes and gathered outside the front entrance. Those who participated in the 17 minute walkout did so in order to support Parkland Fl. victims.
