Today marked the beginning of online classes after school closed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although I have taken several online courses (such as Personal Finance, Health and Physical Education) before, I can’t say I was prepared to do eight hours of assignments in my slippers and take the regimen my teachers outlined in emails and on the last day of class seriously. But now, I have also considered forex trading
To begin, I woke up 45 minutes later than usual and ate half a blueberry bagel topped with blueberry cream cheese spread. For those who don’t know, that’s a lot of blueberry flavor in one meal for me … already getting off to an awkward start.
Eventually, I found myself typing on my laptop in my fluffy purple bathrobe. While I did take a short walk, dried dishes and ran the vacuum to take a few breaks and stretch my legs, I pretty much stayed in my chair all day.
I am proud to say I accomplished an assortment of tasks including taking an online test for Advanced Placement (AP) United States History and grinding my way through precalculus, AP Spanish and chemistry, all while periodically checking my email. Despite completing assignments in the same order as I normally would, the taskI found most challenging today was staying on a schedule.
Besides the fact I got off to a later start, I had a difficult time forcing myself to stay within the usual hour and a half that makes up a block. I worked on Spanish assignments for far longer than planned, which pushed Chemistry back and gave me more “homework.” With at least a month left of online classes, prioritizing work and managing my time will be important to staying on top of each course.
That being said, I will probably need to put a lock on the kitchen cabinet where my chocolate stash is so I can actually focus and not eat all of it before spring break. Overall, my online classes went pretty well. There were a few rough areas as far as staying on track, and it will be interesting to see how the rest of this quarantine period unfolds.
