True False’s (T/F) annual March March parade took place on Friday, March 6. In relation to this year’s motto “Anyone can join,” the parade was open to all festival attendees as well as members of the public. The T/F organization encouraged people to dress up, carry props and make noise during their march down Ninth St.
The parade started outside the Boone County Courthouse at 5:15 p.m. and ended outside the Missouri Theater at 6 p.m. Participants and spectators gathered in front of the theater afterward to form dance and performing circles where they showed off their artistry, talents, and costumes. Everyone from break dancers to hula-hoopers displayed their skills.
Parade participants included Q queens, people dressed as papier-mâché trees and a raccoon gang called “The Racooligans.” People dressed in vibrant and innovative costumes decorated the streets as they danced to the rhythm of the Mobile Funk Unit, a band that marched with the parade from start to finish.
Children dressed in Disney princess costumes wove through the parade, college kids held inspirational signs depicting words that encourage self-love and grown adults popped up through the crowds, recognizable by their red T/F beanies. As the crowd finally dispersed nearly an hour after the parade’s official end, participants eagerly made their way to local eateries, queued for tickets and explored the rest of the sights the festival had to offer.
