What do you think is one of the biggest flaws in the American education system?
“I think that the bigger the classroom is, the less focus each student has. When I was at [Columbia Independent School], we had about 15 kids per classroom. I think that helped me a lot more because teachers had a lot more time to focus on each specific student. Classes such as Civics and World Studies have about 60 students. Two teachers aren’t enough to focus on each [student], which results in some students lacking the abilities that others may have. I feel like having [fewer] students in each class is the obvious solution, probably less than 30 [students]. If [teachers] focus more on what each kid is good at, they’ll be able to help them develop their skills better in the class and possibly improve their grade.”
