On a typical Saturday, it’s rare to find a large group of high school students who aren’t participating in an athletic or extracurricular event, at school. On the afternoon of Oct. 20, however, students from French Honor Society, Rock Bridge Reaches Out (RBRO) and additional clubs and organizations occupied much of campus for Trunk-Or-Treat, the Fall Carnival and Drama Club’s Haunted House.
In the north parking lot, children with pumpkin-shaped buckets overflowing with treats tugged their parents around a circle of vehicles. Hand-made posters and candy-littered tables welcomed ecstatic unicorns, witches and monsters outside the main entrance while promoting and raising money for causes and clubs such as Gay Straight Alliance (GSA).
Meanwhile, lines formed for Drama Club’s Haunted House inside the Performing Arts Center (PAC). As brave souls stepped into the Escape Room, students and families with wide-eyed children followed tour guides through the Haunted Wax Museum where zombies shrieked and ghosts howled with both desperation and rage.
As the day’s light faded into evening shadows, festivities came to a close, but not without sending children home with sweets, smiles and the spirit of Halloween.
