From floral shirts to leis, students started off homecoming spirit week wearing Hawaiian bling for the day’s theme: 1000 Island.

The idea for the “salad” homecoming week theme began with lettuce and evolved into something more concrete as a group comprised of roughly two dozen students and Student Council (StuCo) members tossed around ideas in a studies room Sept. 6.

Junior Jacqueline Drown said she participated in spirit day with her sister, who is a freshman. She said she appreciates the salad week theme.

“I think that they managed to make it really creative with the different days’ themes,” Drown said.
