This Saturday, the RBHS girls’ swim and dive team traveled to Springfield, Missouri to compete in the Springfield Invitational. The Bruins finished third overall.
“For most of us this was the last meet of the season, and for me [it] was the last meet of my diving career,” senior Katie Bagley said,” which is why I wanted to do my best and end on a high note.”
Three out of the four divers that competed this weekend earned new high scores for the season. Junior Leslie Barner finished 17th place, sophomore Gracie-Anne Fraunfelder finished 16th, senior Bagley finished 14th and freshman Olivia Liddle finished in 10th place.
“To prepare we go through a lot of repetitions so that when we get to the meet, it’s all muscle memory,” Barner said.
Each year, RBHS ends its season with a meet in Springfield. The girls look forward to this competition each year because of the bonding experience.
“This meet is personally my favorite because it’s the only one we get to spend the night with all of my teammates in a hotel,” Fraunfelder said.
Before the competition, the team woke up an hour before the meet at 7:30 a.m, and began warm-ups to get ready to dive.
“For most of us this was the last meet of the season so we had been practicing for a couple of months to get ready for this,” Fraunfelder said. “It was an important meet all together.”
