The Bruin varsity and JV girls basketball team played its first game of the season Friday, Nov. 23 against St. Joseph Academy. In St. Louis RBHS beat Troy’s team 60-31 following a JV victory of 37-23.
Mubinah Khaleel, a member of the RBHS JV team, said although RBHS beat Troy handily, the St. Joseph Academy girls had skills that made the Bruins fight for their win.
“It was a good game,” Khaleel said. “We had to battle and do our best because they’re a good team.”
The girls’ success heightens their hopes for future games. Having the opportunity to play together as a team has allowed the girls to bond and discover their strengths as a whole and will hopefully allow them to succeed in future competitions, Khaleel said.
“I’m excited for the rest of the season,” Khaleel said. “I just love playing and hanging out with the team; they’re great.”
