The show choir program hosts its annual premier night performances at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 in the Performing Arts Center. Show choir director Mike Pierson explained the reason behind the event.
“This is the official start of our performance and competition season,” Pierson said. “We have been preparing all of first semester to put these shows together, and this is the first performance of the two shows.”
The program will feature performances by Satin ‘N Lace, the women’s show choir and City Lights, the mixed gender show choir. Senior Ben Lopez said he and his peers have been working on their productions since August.
“I’m nervous because I’m very curious as to what my friends and family will think about our shows,” Lopez said, “but I’m also super excited to show off what we’ve been working on for so long.”
Like Lopez, sophomore Maddi Butler is nervous but can’t wait for her family to see all the work she has put into perfecting her performance in Satin ‘N Lace. Tomorrow night, Butler, Lopez and their peers will get to see their hard work put into action, and Pierson is excited to see the effects of those productions.
“[I am most looking forward to] the audience’s response to the shows,” Pierson said. “Our rehearsals have been fairly quiet at the points in the shows where there should be applause.”
