The world of performing arts at RBHS, as at any high school, is a high stress, intense and incredible place. This year I will focus on the many aspects that that world has to offer. From marching band to choir, musicals to the theatrical showcase and beyond, the comings and goings of the department and its students will be here in the coming months.
The first event this year is the school musical. The cast will put on a production of the hit musical Once Upon a Mattress, a hilarious version of the classic Princess and the Pea fairy tale. This specific blog focuses on the first step in the process of putting on any musical: the auditions. Auditions can be extremely stressful.
Being a performer myself, I know how much work goes into preparing one and how much stress it can bring into the performer’s life. It takes a lot of guts to even put yourself out there for an audition. It is also one of the most rewarding things because it brings valuable experience to the performer’s life and, hopefully, a coveted part.
