Freshmen go all out in the second annual door decs competition
September 29, 2016
Nicole Clemens’ advisory depicts various scenes on their door, including the rainbow, the house crushing the Wicked Witch of the East, and the Emerald City.
Abbey Gorsage’s advisory created an intricate hot air balloon showcasing attributes of the scarecrow, tin man, and the lion.
Gwen Struchtemeyer’s EEE advisory utilizes string to hang flying monkeys from the ceiling to add dimension to their decorations.
With a killer pun, this advisory showcases not only scenes from the Wizard of Oz, but also features members of the advisory as characters from the classic movie.
Carrie Stevenson’s advisory constructed a whimsical Munchkinland featuring many textures and colors.
Stacy Elsbury’s advisory developed a story as well as decorations, depicting Elsbury as the Wicked Witch of the West and senior mentor Melissa Bergin-Stack as Glenda the Good Witch.
The classic movie quote, “There’s no place like home,” ties together this artful decoration.
This door decoration alludes to the Wizard of Oz, and also features Helias football players as flying monkeys.
Gregory Irwin’s advisory puts a new twist on the theme, choosing to focus more on disparaging Helias rather than recreating a scene from the Wizard of Oz.
