Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization which has sustained itself through federal funding since the 1970s. It provides a variety of services for reproductive health, including abortion and other services too, such as screening for breast cancer, helping women go through pregnancy, offering consultations on birth control and providing screenings for men’s cancer.
Recently, with the release of the possibly edited abortion videos and the recordings of Planned Parenthood’s discussion about selling fetal parts to companies for profit, defunding this organization is a hot topic.
Bills are currently being largely debated about in Congress/Senate and local politicians like Kurt Schafer are battling the Columbia Planned Parenthood.
