Perspective. In the night, perspective is everything. Harsh lighting from street lamps, storefronts, and vehicle headlamps cast long, clear cut shadows across the subject. This lighting can also bring out a subject in stark contrast to the surrounding area. This lighting can bring out small details that would not be easily seen otherwise. Colors can pop, or be completely muted depending on the angle that is taken. Seemingly happy scenes can be turned to depressing, morose, or just plain creepy depending on how the scene is viewed. In the night more than any other time, perspective really is everything.
“The details are not the design. They make the design.”
