Freshman Heather Sheets’ schoolwork has negatively influenced her, especially math. She has dyslexia, which it makes it hard for her to understand what she’s learning. Dyslexia is a learning disorder, and doesn’t affect general intelligence. People with dyslexia most commonly have difficulty with reading, however it also affects reading, spelling and at times speaking.
Sheets struggles with seeing letters and numbers in the correct form. At times, she finds it hard to to be positive, but at times she tells herself that she can’t do something and ends up not doing it.
“I convince myself I can’t do something, and I don’t do it,” Sheets said.” I feel like I don’t understand something, and so it makes me not want to try. I keep in mind that I’m equal to everyone else, and that helps me maintain a positive attitude.”
Maintaining a positive attitude is something one must learn. A person has to stimulate their attitude, let their attitude play make-believe, and tie their attitude to a long-term goal than a short-term one. It’s good for one to imagine themselves as being successful and useful, and have that idea planted in their brain. Then, they will have a greater chance of being what they imagined themselves as. Positive and negative attitudes are linked to health. If someone tends to be more negative, the higher their chances are of becoming sick. Anyone can affect how other people act sometimes, so that’s why it’s important to be positive.
“I’ve been brought down by someone else’s mood because seeing someone upset makes me upset. Someone in a bad mood can put me in a bad mood also,” freshman Savannah Ferguson said.” I don’t like when someone is mad, and they take it out on me. It brings me down.”
Physiological changes alter people’s moods. The body’s natural hormonal changes affect how women and men feel. “Emotional contagion,” as researchers call, is a biological program that allows for others to improve or worsen other people’s emotion. Another thing is mirror neurons, which is a natural process pre-wired in the brain that enables humans to sense and reflect on others emotions.
A positive attitude improves the quality of the immune system. A negative one decreases someone’s lifespan and can make a person emotionally or physically sick. Behavior plays a large role in creating a positive attitude. Those with good behaviors will result in having a positive attitude and will tend to be more active and productive. They will try to do what they can to help improve the mood of people around them. So when a person is ill it is more difficult to get over that illness if they are negative about it, even if it is a simple sickness.
“When I’m sick I don’t have the energy to keep up the energy that keeps me happy,” freshman Kim Hildebrand said. “I feel icky and I want to feel better.”
Focus 3 is an organization that focuses on leaders and success. Their goal is to equip people with skills. Two men write the articles, Brian and Tim Kight. They post about relationships, jobs, lessons they’ve learnt, alternatives and choices people should or do make.
Tim Kight tries to inspire groups and individuals by teaching others being leaders and how to do managing. He has earned a graduate degree from Princeton and an undergraduate degree from UCLA. He has over 25 years worth of experience on banking, manufacturing, athletics, healthcare and professional services. Brian Kight graduated with a BA of Communications from the college of Wooster. He has spoken for people from everywhere and has experience with healthcare, financial services, professional services, athletics, government, manufacturing and non-profit organizations.
According to a post, the Power of Attitude from Focus 3, negative attitudes is a sign that someone is lacking mental discipline. People with this type of outlook usually stop looking for solutions to their problems, and focus on feeling sorry for themselves rather than doing something about their problems or trying to find new opportunities. Limiting beliefs about life and specific aspects of is one of the causes of a bad attitude. That is why it is valid to try and change negative beliefs because it doesn’t help. Sometimes the reason people are unhappy, is because of themselves.
Bad attitudes can be related to a bad environment. It is valid that one does not stay in one, because their optimism will be influenced.
An Environment that’s negative is somewhere someone should leave. When a person thinks that he or she has no control over their bad environment and they think that they can’t change it, their outlook on things will turn pessimistic. Leaving the bad environment is important for the well-being of people.
“Leaving a bad environment helps me to get out of bad situations or I could be in or already be in,” Ferguson said. “This will help me get far in life. Being around the wrong people could get me into bad situations or bad things and so getting out while I can is important, so I don’t get in trouble.”
How one decides to react to a bad situation or event largely impacts the outcome. A good attitude creates optimism and allows people to make productive changes in their lives. It helps them cope. Everyone has different circumstances and backgrounds but how people decide to act and think will bring more success and content in life. Good attitudes are related to success. These people are more equipped with dealing with stress, and have an increased lifespan and better energy than others.
“I don’t wanna have a bad day and I don’t want anyone else to have a bad day,” Hildebrand said. “I’ll say something to them, like, ‘I was really hurt when you said this to me,’ and just get it off my chest. I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.”[TS-VCSC-Content-Flip flip_style=”style1″ flip_effect_style1=”horizontal” flip_effect_style2=”ts-flip-right” flip_effect_speed=”medium” flip_size_auto=”true” flip_size=”200″ front_html=”false” back_title=”Hend Alrawi, senior” back_html=”false” back_content=”“I’m always positive around people, like trying to be happy.
