By the end of the day on Thurs., Jan. 22, RBHS yearbook sales will be officially closed to all students and faculty.
“You can buy them online until that day or you can buy them by coming into our class until that day but that’s absolute last day,” Flashback Co-Editor in Chief Bailey Washer said.
After Jan. 22, yearbook management will submit the number of books that have been purchased to insure the printing of those books. Once the number has been submitted, there’s no way to order more at the same price.
“When you buy them in advance you have a set price because you’re ordering a batch,” Washer said. “But when you order smaller, reorder, batches it costs more for them to print it so then it costs us more than twice as much unless we order over 100 again, which is unlikely.”
In 2013, Flashback ordered too many books and last year, the original amount of yearbooks that had been ordered wasn’t enough, which meant Flashback had to order more at $200 each. Since previous years had made enough money, Flashback was able to sell the reordered books for $100, but Co-Editor in Chief Madeline Kuligowski said she wants to be as close to accurate as possible this year.
“It was really harsh [and] it was really stressful,” Co-Editor in Chief Madeline Kuligowski said. “It cost us a lot of money which is why we have to make absolutely sure that we have the right amount of books so we don’t end up with too many, that we’re wasting money, or too few, where not everybody is satisfied.
Junior Abby Pauley was one of the many who requested to purchase a yearbook in May of last year after she realized there was a picture with a quote she had said.
“I was pretty stressed just because I wanted everyone to sign it before the last day,” Pauley said. “It was pretty sentimental, but I finally got it the last week of school.”
Unlike last year, yearbook sales will not continue after Jan. 22. Kuligowski said there won’t be any reordering because it is a hard deadline.
“They will not be getting a book [after Jan. 22],” Kuligowski said. “We have had so many problems.”
In order to limit the amount of confusion, Flashback encouraged students and parents to double check if they’ve purchased a yearbook by checking the link on Bearing News or coming into room 329.
“…Just ask us and we’d be more than happy to look it up for you,” Kuligowski said.
