Old fences have always been a favorite photo subject of mine.
A couple of weeks ago, before we were snowed in for the long haul,
I went around my Grandma’s farm and took some photos of the iced-over scenery.
As dangerous and inconvenient as ice can be, it makes for some beautiful landscapes.
Everything down to the electric fence was coated in a fairly thick coat of ice.All of the soap-weed plants, dead and withered, were encased in ice. A day or so after I took this photo, my uncle came by to pick up his hay bales and take them home for his cattle. A closer view of the hay. Every single piece of it was completely covered. Old fences have always been a favorite photo subject of mine. Normally, I would’ve climbed over the fence, but I don’t think I would’ve gotten very far without falling. All the tree branches hung down a fair bit farther than usual that day. The ice didn’t stop the birds, though. They flew away as soon as they heard me crunching through the snow, but they were there in full force. I’m not sure what sort of seed or weed or plant this was, but I was quite fascinated by it. I’ve always felt that putting a photo in black and white gives it a vintage, classic feel.
