After a long and strenuous effort by the girls varsity volleyball team, they finally emerged victorious against the Hannibal Pirates tonight, winning two out of the three games played 27-25, 21-25 and 25-18.
Fueled by shouts of encouragement from both teammates and stand dwellers, the Bruins refused to give up, as the games for the most part were neck and neck. Regardless, the Bruins were satisfied with their victory.
“We did a nice job of having the ‘Never say die’ attitude tonight,” head coach Robin Sherman said, “We did an especially nice job of serving tonight and really just playing smart.”
Being essentially a game of sudden death, the team to win the last game (since the number of wins were tied) would win the whole match. But the Bruins remained un-phased as they finished strong with a seven point lead.
“We were on our roes the whole time, we got a lot of balls up, we were ready to play, girls stepped in when they needed to, it was all around a good job from everyone tonight,” junior Ali Kreklow said “We played these guys a week ago and it’s always hard to beat a team twice. We were missing a few girls, but overall we did a really good job.”
