This delicious smelling seasonal scrub will leave your skin soft and glowing throughout the harsh cold of the winter months. It makes a great holiday gift idea or you can make it as a treat for yourself this Christmas season.
Inspiration: apumpkinandaprincess.com
Total Cost: $2.97 plus household ingredients
Assembly time: 10 minutes
Materials:
1 ½ cups sugar
¾ cup coconut oil
4-6 drops peppermint oil or mint extract
1-2 drops red food coloring
Small glass jar ($1.97)
Decorative ribbon ($1.00)
Mixing bowl
Instructions:
Step 1: Microwave the coconut oil, which comes solid and room temperature, for 30 seconds until it has fully melted or is soft enough to stir into liquid form.
Step 2: Add peppermint oil or mint extract to the melted coconut oil. Stir the liquids together until they are fully blended.
Step 3: Add the red food coloring to the mixture. I chose to add only a small drop, in order to give the scrub a light pink tint, but you may also dye it a deeper red or split the scrub into two bowls, dying only one bowl red and layering the scrub to look like a candy cane.
Step 4: Scoop the peppermint scrub into the glass jar, seal the lid on tightly and tie a ribbon around the top for decoration. If you like, you may add a bow and a gift tag like I did and give scrub to one of your friends as a festive, girly gift idea.
