The ever-famous Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks is one of my favorite drinks for the fall season, but the price isn’t something I love to spend all the time. Thus, my joy in discovering a DIY recipe for the Pumpkin Spice Latte on Pinterest was unfathomable, and I decided to put my beverage-making skills to the test.
You will need:
- 3 cups of warm whole milk
- 1 Tbsp. of sugar
- ½ tsp. of vanilla
- ½ tsp. of pumpkin pie spice
- ¾ cup of brewed coffee
- A little bit of lightly whipped cream
- A dash of pumpkin spice
- Blender
- 2-3 mugs
To make the Pumpkin Spice Latte:
- First, pour in the hot milk, sugar, vanilla and pumpkin pie spice into the blender. Cover the blender to avoid any mishaps, and blend the mixture on the “pulse” setting.
- Continue to blend until you achieve the desired consistency. I decided to continue the process until the mixture was frothy.
- Take out your coffee mugs, and pour in the DIY latte about 2/3 of the way full.
- To finish off the treat, you can top it off with a bit of lightly whipped cream and a dash of pumpkin spice.
After finishing the recipe, I can honestly say I am quite satisfied with the product. Though this DIY version of the Pumpkin Spice Latte isn’t exactly the same as the beverage from Starbucks, I consider the two quite comparable. The Starbucks version is a bit richer and creamier, but both are perfect for providing enjoyment and comfort on a chilly fall morning or evening.
The fact that the ingredients were easily accessible, the preparation time was quick (a mere 5 minutes) and, most importantly, that the cost was so inexpensive convinces me that this drink will be an ever-present beverage in my life this fall. So whip out these quick ingredients, get blending and enjoy a delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte that you can be proud to say you made yourself.
