The girls varsity volleyball team snagged their 10th win of the season on Thursday, Sept. 19 against the Notre Dame de Sion Storms. They won the first set easily with a score of 25-11 and won the second one much more narrowly, with a score of 27-25.
Senior varsity player Kayla Cheadle said the Bruins had reason to be nervous going into the game.
“Going into the game I knew it was going to be a battle,” Cheadle said, “because we had lost to them last season in a tournament. So we needed to go into the game with a mind-set to win and leave everything on the court.”
The Bruins followed through on this mind-set. According to Cheadle, though the Storms were scrappy and able to get a lot of balls up and had an advantage in having beaten the Bruins before, the Bruins stayed confident, maintained strong passes and did a fine job of executing their plays, ultimately resulting in yet another win. Cheadle sees this as a positive sign for the future of the team.
“I think we can go far this season,” Cheadle said, “because we have great team chemistry and go out every game and leave all we have out on the court and play for each other.”
