On the afternoon of Sept. 17, both varsity and junior varsity Girls Golf teams traveled to Kirksville, MO to play in a quad match against teams from Macon, Kirksville and Centralia. After hours of battling the elements, the RBHS girls emerged victorious, with 169 total points by the end of the match.
Senior Catherine Howser participated in the match and felt the team did well when taking into consideration that the weather wasn’t cooperating, with showers forecasted for the Kirksville area through most of the day.
“The weather was not ideal, but we managed to pull through as a team and did well,” Howser said. “Compared to other matches, this was a little tougher because of the weather, but our scores stayed pretty average.”
Howser seemed confident that even though this match was not the best the team had done, the girls’ efforts clearly showed and helped them defeat the other teams. Considering the circumstances, she hopes they will continue play as well as they did today.
“I think this match was pretty reflective of the rest of the season to come will be,” Howser said. “Our performance will hopefully be the same, or improve.”
The team’s next match is tomorrow, Sept. 18, at L.A. Nickel. They will be playing against Hickman High School. District tournaments will be held later on next month, from Oct. 7 through Oct. 9.
