Senior choral student Joe Pratt is in a district ensemble and thinks that the concert tonight will allow everyone another opportunity to prepare for the competition.
“It’s just another opportunity to practice performing and being in front of people that we don’t know,” Pratt said. “The thing I’m more concerned about isn’t our large group [performance] because Rock Bridge has a history of performing well for a large ensemble but we’ve got small ensembles that we’re in and also solos for our group.”
The orchestra is also sending small ensembles and solos to the district contest, but looks to tonight as a way to demonstrate to parents and relatives the work they’ve done so far this semester.
“This is a perfect way to iron out all the little kinks and bugs we might still have in place before we play at districts next week,” RBHS orchestra director Jeanne Lambson said. “It’s also a way to show our friends and family how fantastic we sound because they won’t be able to hear us next week in Mexico.”
While the concert does take place on a school night and have multiple music groups performing, students should take time to attend and hear the talent that will be on the stage.
“We’ve put a lot of time and effort into this, we’ve got some really talented musicians and the music is really quite amazing to listen to,” Lambson said. “It’s very listenable, very approachable. I think anybody from any age would enjoy listening to it.”
